Safe Depressurization & Support: Park the excavator on level ground. Fully lower the boom and bucket to the ground to relieve all hydraulic pressure. Mechanically secure the boom or cylinder rod to prevent any movement.
Clean Workspace: Perform disassembly and assembly in a meticulously clean, dust-controlled environment. Use a parts washer and lint-free cloths.
Documented Disassembly: Carefully disassemble the cylinder gland. Photograph and label each component and its orientation during removal.
Mandatory Metal Inspection: Thoroughly inspect the cylinder rod for scratches, pitting, or scoring. Inspect the cylinder bore (ID) for wear, tapering, or damage. Replace any damaged metal components before installing new seals.
Proper Seal Installation: Lubricate all new elastomeric seals with clean hydraulic fluid. Use dedicated seal installation tools (cone tools, sleeves) to guide seals over threads and sharp edges without cutting or rolling.
Precision Reassembly: Follow the included diagram for correct seal order and orientation. Ensure all seals are fully and squarely seated in their grooves.
Torque Specifications: Use a calibrated torque wrench. Adhere strictly to Komatsu's specified torque values and sequences for gland bolts, tie-rods, or end caps.
