Complete System Safeguarding:
Secure the Machine: Park the loader on a flat, level surface. Lower the lift arms and attachment fully to the ground. Stop the engine.
Depressurize the Hydraulic System: Slowly loosen the hydraulic tank cap to release residual pressure. Engage the auxiliary hydraulics via the control switch/lever (with engine off) to relieve any trapped pressure in the auxiliary circuit.
Disconnect All Power: Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal to eliminate any risk of electrical shock or accidental machine start-up.
Maintain Impeccable Cleanliness:
The hydraulic system is extremely sensitive to contamination. Thoroughly clean the solenoid, its mounting area, and all connection points before disassembly.
Immediately after disconnecting hydraulic lines, use clean plugs or caps to seal all open ports on the valve and hoses.
Careful Handling & Installation:
Document Wiring: Note the routing and connection of the electrical connector before disconnecting it from the old solenoid.
Proper Removal: Remove the mounting bolts and/or hydraulic lines to extract the faulty valve.
Use New Seals: Always install the new O-rings or gaskets supplied with the COGENG valve. Lubricate them with clean hydraulic oil before assembly.
Correct Torque: Install the new COGENG 195-9700 solenoid and use a torque wrench to tighten all mounting bolts and hydraulic fittings to the values specified in the Caterpillar service manual. Avoid over-tightening.
Post-Installation System Check:
Reconnect the battery.
Start the engine and let it run at low idle. Conduct a meticulous visual inspection of the new solenoid and all connection points for any signs of hydraulic leakage.
With no attachment installed, briefly activate the auxiliary hydraulic control to purge air from the circuit.
Connect a simple attachment and perform a full operational test to ensure the auxiliary hydraulics engage and function smoothly and with full power.
