Meticulous Disassembly:
Thoroughly clean the exterior of the cylinder before disassembly to prevent contamination.
During disassembly, carefully lay out all old components in the exact order and orientation they are removed. Take clear, high-resolution photos at each step.
Identify and match each old seal with its corresponding new seal from the COGENG kit before discarding any old parts.

Comprehensive Component Inspection:
Inspect the piston rod for any scratches, gouges, or rust. Even a minor imperfection can shred a new seal. Polish minor defects with a fine abrasive cloth.
Check the cylinder tube interior for scoring or damage.
Inspect the gland and piston for wear or damage. Replace any components that are not in perfect condition.

Precise Seal Installation:
Lubricate every new seal and all metal contact surfaces generously with clean hydraulic oil during assembly.
Use proper seal installation tools. Never use screwdrivers or sharp metal tools that can nick or cut the seals. Plastic picks and tapered installation cones are recommended.
Ensure all seals are seated evenly and fully in their grooves without any twists. Pay close attention to the direction of lip seals.

Tighten all fasteners, especially the gland nut, to the manufacturer's specified torque values using a torque wrench.
After reinstalling the cylinder, slowly cycle it several times without load to fill the oil chambers and seat the seals. Check for leaks meticulously during initial operation.
