System Safety Preparation:
Park Safely: Position the machine on a level, stable surface. Lower all attachments to the ground. Stop the engine.
Depressurize Systems:
Fuel System: Relieve fuel system pressure by loosening the fuel filter cap slowly.
Hydraulic System: Slowly loosen the hydraulic tank cap and operate all control levers (with engine off) to relieve hydraulic pressure.
Disconnect Power: Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent any electrical shorts or accidental starting.
Critical Cleanliness:
Fuel System: Absolutely prevent dirt from entering the fuel system. Clean the area around the solenoid thoroughly before disassembly.
Hydraulic System: Clean the solenoid and surrounding area meticulously to prevent contamination of the hydraulic system.
Immediately cap all open fuel or hydraulic lines after disconnection.
Careful Installation Steps:
Note Wiring: Carefully note the wiring configuration and disconnect the electrical connector.
Proper Removal: Remove the mounting bolts and/or lines to extract the old solenoid.
Use New Seals: Always install new O-rings, gaskets, or crush washers supplied with the COGENG valve. Lubricate seals with the appropriate fluid (fuel or oil).
Correct Torque: Install the new COGENG 122-5053 solenoid and tighten all fasteners to the manufacturer's specified torque values using a torque wrench.
Post-Installation System Check:
Reconnect the battery.
For Fuel Solenoids: Check for fuel leaks at the connections before starting. Cycle the key to check for the solenoid's audible "click" before cranking.
For Hydraulic Solenoids: Start the engine and run at low idle. Check for hydraulic leaks. Cycle the related hydraulic functions to purge air.
Perform a full operational test to ensure proper function.
